One year to go until EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027

Read time: 5 minutes

The countdown is on: exactly one year before the event kicks off, the tenth European Championship of Young Professionals is clearly gathering momentum. From 22 to 26 September 2027, around 800 young skilled workers from 36 European countries will compete in Düsseldorf – they will go head-to-head in around 50 skills under the motto “SKILLS! Shape Your Future”. Germany and Luxembourg are co-hosting EuroSkills for the first time, a special symbol of European solidarity. Around 150,000 visitors are expected.

Following the Opening Ceremony on 22 September, the Competition will take place over three days at the Messe Düsseldorf exhibition centre, before the winners are crowned on 26 September.

Hands-on vocational training

For school students, EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027 offers a window into the modern world of work: in the competition areas, they can witness first-hand how challenging tasks are tackled under time pressure using state-of-the-art technology. In the ‘Try-a-Skill’ zones, they can try their hand at the tasks themselves whilst engaging directly with apprentices and experts.

A new feature this year is the arenas: here, students and apprentices discuss the future of training and work, technological change, inclusion, sustainability and the appeal of vocational training on an equal footing with representatives from politics, business and the education sector. Young people are not merely addressed here but taken seriously as active contributors. Admission is free.

“In Düsseldorf, young people will experience just how diverse and challenging vocational education and training is today. With the ‘One Year to Go’ milestone, we are entering a phase in which we will be promoting precisely this diversity in schools, workplaces, the media and European partner networks,” says Agnes Hecker, COO of EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027.

Five areas, one stage for vocational education and training

Competitions, Try-a-Skill, arenas, a conference and exhibition spaces – together, these five central event areas bring vocational education and training to life in all its breadth: from top-class performances and hands-on experiences to innovations and prospects for the future.

“Vocational education and training are the backbone of our economic strength and key to Europe’s future. For EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027, young people are therefore not just the target audience: they contribute their experiences and ideas directly to the dialogue with the worlds of politics, business and education,” says Dawid Solak, CEO of EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027.
